Support for Syrian refugee families coming to Cornwall

Dear Colleague

I am writing to invite individuals who have expressed an interest in supporting Syrian refugees who may resettle in Cornwall and organisations that are/maybe interested in offering some support to them, to come along to see what we can do together.  We are holding a meeting, chaired by Bishop Tim, Bishop of Truro and Sarah Newton, MP in Truro on Friday, 8 January at 2.30.
Whilst none of the government’s first phase of refugees travelling to the UK this year are currently destined for Cornwall, we are putting plans in place so that we would be ready and able to help if needed with the next phase in early 2016.  The appropriate agencies will be involved in providing the statutory requirements such as housing, education and health, however we would like to explore how we, as a community in Cornwall, can support them to help them integrate and thrive in our local communities.

We know that there is already a lot going on across Cornwall, but we hope this meeting will bring everyone together to share ideas, put people in touch with each other and help coordinate things where that would be helpful.  If you are interested in offering some support or have some ideas about what we can do together please follow the link to book a place.  The final details on venue etc will be sent out nearer the time, depending on the number of people interested.

Given the need to ensure we have a suitable venue I would appreciate it if you could confirm your attendance by Monday, 14 December by using the link to the online booking system:

It is our intention to produce a contact list for the meeting, in your confirmation email you will be asked to confirm if you would like your name, organisation, email address and telephone number to be on that list.  (If you do not confirm then we cannot put you on the list).

We do hope you will be able to attend.
Best wishes
