Sunday saw St Piran’s Church in Perranzabuloe full for the service to award 2024’s Cross of St Piran Awards.
The Rt Revd Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans, presented 15 of the crosses to the very deserving recipients who came from across the diocese. You can read Bishop Hugh’s sermon here.
The Cross of St Piran is an annual award which is presented to individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service. They are largely nominated by their peers and can be recognised for everything from length of service to specific projects.

“I beg you, bear with one another in love…” – Ephesians 4: 1 – 7.
On this #WorldDayofPrayer we share in this theme prepared by a group of Palestinian Christian women before the current conflict. To mark this day, Revd David Hardman, Methodist Liaison Officer, Jerusalem has shared this prayer:
God of love,
walk through the destroyed streets of Gaza and the fearful households of Israel
and hold all who grieve, fear and hate in your everlasting arms,
God of justice,
walk, once again, through the occupied land of Palestine
and at the checkpoints demand freedom for the oppressed,
God of peace,
walk in the corridors of power and show leaders content to sanction war,
your scared hands of sacrificial love as the antidote to brutal power,
Word of God,
be heard in us as you beseech us to bear one another in love,
that together love and justice can bring peace to the land we, desire to still, call holy, Amen.
