The Grow in Project

About The Grow in Project

The Grow in Project is an ecumenical venture working for children in the Falmouth and Penryn area. It was initiated and is supported by Falmouth & Penryn Churches Together and aims to promote the Christian faith through the outreach of FPCT member churches and to serve the local community through working with primary school age children.

It seeks to advance the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth of children by giving children diverse opportunities to discover and express their own spirituality within a Christian context; to encourage our local churches to be imaginative and adventurous in their ministry with children and promote good working relationships between our churches and local schools.

The Grow in Project currently employs a Children’s Worker, Marcus Jones, who works closely with local churches to advise them on their work with children and help with special events. He is a visible presence in local primary schools, where he variously runs clubs, leads assemblies and is involved in playground chaplaincy. He supports Kidz Klub and their activities. He has set up several new initiatives, including Grandbuddies and Kid-Space. He also leads Holiday Clubs. Marcus works closely with our valued volunteers, without whom the activities and events would not run, and provides training where necessary.

The Grow in Project is a registered Charity run by a Board of Trustees who are charged with the effective running of The Grow in Project and for ensuring that the funding, policies and procedures necessary to ensure that the work of The Grow in Project is effective. Currently The Grow in Project is funded by Christian organisations and trusts across several denominations, with a salary for the appointed worker secured for three years (to 2010).
